ABSTRACT

In the first months of the covid-19 pandemic, in 2020, indigenous movements and organizations in the Northeast region of Brazil established an extensive network of support and partnerships with groups of researchers and civil society entities to organize campaigns of solidarity with the indigenous peoples. The production of general information and empirical data on how the disease reached indigenous territories and populations constituted one of the main strategies for action. This mobilization was the basis for establishing collaborative networks that investigated how the indigenous peoples faced the pandemic, from an anthropological bias and applying methods that we could define as virtual collaborative research. The article, thus, discusses the potential of this can constitute a kind of support for social control exercised by the communities.

ABSTRACT

In view of the pandemic scenario, caused by the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), the Degree in Rural Education at the Federal University of Minas Gerais promoted, through the extension project "Povos do Campo and the COVID-19 Pandemic", actions aimed at bringing the University closer to the reality of the peasant population. Among the activities promoted, the mini -course "ABNT Standards for Academic Works and Academic Research Tools" was offered, whose main objectives, meeting the needs of students, help graduates, especially those in the process of writing the monograph, to master techniques of academic research, writing, formatting and standardization, as well as making them aware of the importance of academic research for society. The results of the mini-course showed that, even in pandemic times and in the midst of great difficulties in accessing resources, it was possible to promote strategies aimed at the inclusion of peasant peoples and overcoming social inequalities.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The internet has changed how the public administration communicates its actions to society. The issue of transparency has become even more necessary in the current pandemic of the Covid-19, which has led to an exponential growth in cases of gender-based violence in Brazil. Objective: Assuming the adoption of Active Transparency, based on the Access to Information Law, this research aims to identify actions of the Ministério da Mulher, Família e dos Direitos Humanos in combating gender-based violence during the period of social isolation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: With an exploratory nature, the methodological path of the research took place in two stages. At first, there was an identification of the Ministério role in social media. Second, data referring to gender violence were collected in the Ministério Twitter platform, for further analysis. Results: The study made it possible to identify the actions taken by the Ministério, if the projects were implemented. Also as most popular mentions and the use of hashtags. Conclusion: Some information conveyed as actions to promote the fight against gender-based violence did not provide basic data on its realization, methodology, implementation, benefits, and effects, creating barriers to eradication. © 2022, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. ABSTRACT

Universities and study centers have been forced to change their teaching methodology due to the threat posed by COVID-19 in Ecuador. The impact on the family economy has had a direct impact on university students, making it difficult for them to acquire basic resources for university development and the acquisition of knowledge for the training of future professionals. The stoppage and extensive confinement have led the Higher Education Institution (IES) to promote actions to resist the economic impacts of the temporary or partial closure of the universities. E-learning has been an essential tool for the continuity of university studies, with the help of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). It is noteworthy that currently, Ecuador presents a series of factors that affect the development of education in higher education. That is why this work focuses on analyzing and determining the potential factors or causes that slow down the development of university education in times of COVID-19 through the use and analysis of the Delphi method.

ABSTRACT

Background & Objectives: Academic education has been a challenge for medical schools during the SARS-COV2 pandemic. The E-Learning has been widely used in order to mitigate the damage caused by the impossibility of in-class teaching in schools and universities. The present study aims to assess the impact on student's learnship as well as the level of satisfaction amongst students on the online teaching of theoretical anesthesiology as an alternative method to classroom teaching in times of pandemic. Material & Methods: This single-center observational study was approved by the Institutional Review Board. The subjects were divided into eight modules with two virtual meetings each. Tests related to the topics covered were prepared in the GoogleForms tool and applied before and after the lectures given through the Microsoft Teams platform. The students' levels of expectation and satisfaction regarding the online course were evaluated using online forms. Results: The study included 61 medical students, from the fourth to the sixth year, of which 36 answered all tests, with a total of 812 questionnaires completed. A significant increase in the number of correct answers was observed in all modules (FIGURE 1);the raise in the overall average was 41,37% (3,94vs5,57;CI95%;p<0,001). The difference between the students' levels of expectation and satisfaction in each item was analysed individually (FIGURE 2) and, in general, the course exceeded the student's expectations (6,06vs6,25;CI95%;p<0,001). Conclusion: E-Learning is an effective method for the theoretical teaching of anesthesiology and can be considered a valuable tool in medical school education. The decrease in the number of questionnaires answered throughout the course could be explained by the return of university activities. The improvement in the grades and in the level of satisfaction regarding the expectation shows the effectiveness and the good acceptance of the online methodology by the students.
